Worship

Our Philosophy of Corporate Worship

The highest aim of Uptown Christ Covenant Church in corporate worship on Sunday mornings is to bring glory to our great God and King by worshipping Him in spirit and truth. We seek to do this through songs and hymns of praise and worship, times of confession, the reading of Scripture, inclusion of traditional creeds and prayers of faithful fathers, and the preached Word of God. Our worship style includes contemporary praise choruses with some traditional hymns that are carefully chosen to reflect Scriptural truths. The Lord's Supper is celebrated once a month, and baptisms and new member installations occur as needed.

Our Belief About Worship

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.” ~ Romans 12:1

As Christians, God calls us to a lifestyle of worship. Each moment of every day should be lived unto our Lord. He calls us to worship Him through being a transforming community , loving witness and helping neighbor .

One element of worship vital for the Uptown Community is the Sunday Morning Service . During this corporate worship of God, we seek to devote ourselves “to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42 )

“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” ~ Hebrews 10:25

Our Style of Worship

Uptown's style of music in the worship service is a blend of the contemporary and traditional. We recognize the value of new melodies and contemporary texts as well as rich hymnody that has stood the test of time.

Our corporate worship services incorporate praise, prayer, confession, reading of Scripture and preaching.

Our Team for Worship

We have many dedicated volunteers who are involved on Sunday mornings. The following is a list of the possible opportunities to serve the Lord and Uptown Church through the Worship Ministry.

Praise and Worship Team – Vocalists and instrumentalists who assist in leading the congregation in worship on Sunday morning. If you would like to use your musical gifts to draw God's people into an authentic response to all that He is, we want to explore how your gifts can be used at Uptown. Please fill out and submit this Worship Information Form to help us gain valuable insight as to where you might be able to plug in. Worship Information Form. Rehearsals are on Thursdays from 7:00 - 9:30 pm.
