I’m regularly amazed at the way the Lord makes systematic lectio continuo preaching relevant. This week, we find ourselves in Paul’s famous instruction on the proper way to receive the Lord’s Supper, which instruction he received from Christ. This week, we also find ourselves observing this sacred communion and feasting with Christ. Our songs will contain themes of bread and wine, body and blood, feasting and communion with Christ.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 11:17-34
Sermon: “Worthily Receive the Lord’s Supper”
Worship Leader: Tom Ellis
Confession of Faith : Westminster Shorter Catechism, Q. 97
Leader: What is required for the worthy receiving of the Lord’s Supper?
People: It is required of them that would worthily partake of the Lord’s Supper, that they examine themselves of their knowledge to discern the Lord’s body, of their faith to feed upon him, of their repentance, love, and new obedience; lest, coming unworthily, they eat and drink judgment to themselves.
