RESPONSIVE READINGS

Confession of Sin

Leader:         O Lord of power and might, who sits enthroned above the cherubim and sets the stars in their courses, and before whom are the hearts and desires of all men laid bare, we come to worship with our sin and brokenness in tow.

People:         We are weary and heavy-laden from our burdens. We have broken your laws and refused your love. Forgive us Lord.

Leader:         The love of God is steadfast and sure; he is a strong tower and his people dwell safely in the surety of his presence.

People:         We come before you as children, undeserving of your patience and tenderness. But we come boldly to your throne of grace and mercy. Forgive us, Lord, cast down our idols, and fill us with your word, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Confession of Faith : The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty
Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended into hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
