A Call To Joy: A Women's Sunday School Class
9:15 AM in the Third Floor Boardroom
Teacher: Melissa Kruger
Phillipians is a letter of encouragement to joy. Written by an imprisoned Paul, to a church suffering from opposition, his continual refrain is "Rejoice". As we study this book, each week we will explore the contrast between the world's call to temporal happiness and the fruit of joy that accompanies the salvation of the believer. The hope is to turn our eyes from false and unsatisfying methods of finding contentment and seek the One who is the source of abiding joy. There is a study guide available for you to use throughout the week to deepen your study. Please contact Melissa Kruger(melissakruger@uptownchurch.org) or Jenni Pyrch(jennipyrch@gmail.com) if you would like a notebook.

What's The Difference?: A Men's Class on How to Lead, Protect and Provide
9:15 AM in the Fourth Floor Hallway
Teachers: Mike Kruger & Bill Macurda
Scripture is clear that manhood and womanhood are the beautiful handiwork of a good and loving God. John Piper, in his book What's the Difference?, declares that "God designed our differences, and they are profound."
Yet, in many ways, the world around us, and even the church, has lost sight of these differences. When rightly understood according to his Word, God's vision for both men and women is not oppressive, prideful, or self-promoting, but, are "fulfilling in the deepest sense of that word." Come join us for this important class as we seek to recover the biblical teaching on manhood and womanhood.

Living in Anticipation of the Thief in the Night: A Study in Thessalonians
10:30 AM in the Resource Center
Teacher: Matt Tringali
In the advent season we celebrated the first coming of Christ as we also look with great anticipation toward his second coming as the King in all of his glory. Paul wrote to the church of the Thessalonians to encourage and exhort them as they too lived in great anticipation of the final coming of Christ. He reminded them that "the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, 'There is peace and security,' then sudden destruction will come upon them." In this class we will consider Paul's teaching in how to not be lulled into the supposed "peace and security" the world offers, but instead look to the consummate peace and security that only Christ our King can offer.
