Connice Dyar, Mary Kulp, and Jenni Pyrch | 9:15AM, Third Floor Boardoom
...(more) We are all familiar with the feeling of disappointment.... in fact because we’ve been so often disappointed, we’ve trained ourselves not to hope for so much, not to expect too much. So we’ve learned to live expecting very little from other people, from ourselves, from life, even from God. But we don’t have to spend our lives on an endless and unsatisfying search. There really is something better that is within our grasp. Ladies, join us these eight weeks as we journey thru the book of Hebrews and see that there is something better...our great High Priest, Jesus Christ. (This class will use the book Hoping for Something Better by Nancy Guthrie, now available in the Resource Center)

Forde Britt, Tom Queen, and Charles Neil | 9:15AM, Fourth Floor Hallway
...(more) This Men’s Sunday School class will be studying The Masculine Mandate by Richard D. Phillips (now available in the Uptown Church Resource Center). There is a crying need in the church today for men to be men. But it is possible to cut through all of this con- fusion by consulting what Scripture has to say to men. Come join us for this Sunday School class and explore how God calls men to be leaders, husbands, fathers, and churchmen.
Your Greatest Doubts & Fears: How Christians Can Face Their Toughest Challenges
Mike Kruger, Greg Lanier, and Jon Levy | 10:30AM, Third Floor Boardroom
...(more) C.S. Lewis once said, "Don’t forget in the dark what you learned in the light." The Christian life can be filled with dark times—doubts, fears, and questions about all sorts of things. But, through His Word, God sheds his light on all these problem. This class will explore some of the tough- est doubts and fears that Christians face: What if Christianity is wrong and we are deceiving ourselves? Why would God allow a world so filled with evil? If Christianity is true then why are there so many intelligent people who reject it? If God is real then why do so many Christian seem caught in sin? How do I handle depression or anxi- ety about the future? How can I say Jesus is the only way to heaven and not be arrogant and intolerant? If these are some of the challenges you face (or you know others that face them), come join us for this important class.

The Supremacy of Christ in Colossians
Craig Paddock and Brian Phillips | 10:30AM, Third Floor Boardoom

And how are we to live in the light of our union with Christ? The apostle Paul addresses the heresies of his day by directing the church of Colossae to the supremacy of Christ. He confronts these false teachers by affirming the greatness of who Christ is as the God-man. So Happy Together - A Study of Ephesians
Trey Bundrick and Michael Whitham | 10:30AM, Third Floor Boardoom

How do we as the people of God engage each other and the rest of the world? How do we live together? In Ephesians, Paul sheds light on these questions and others and instructs us how to live as one in Christ.

Heresy: What is it and How We Defend Against It
Dr. Mike Kruger | 9:15AM, Fourth Floor Hallway
...(more) We don’t use the term "heresy" lightly—nor did the early church. So, what exactly is heresy? How is it different than just a false belief? And how do we know it when we see it? This class will explore the concept of heresy in more detail and will also examine some of the core heresies in the early church and in the modern day. In addition, we will discuss how we can still believe in heresy (and orthodoxy!) in our postmodern world which believes there is no such things and "right" beliefs or "wrong" beliefs. So, come join us for this important class and learn how Christianity is defended not just by studying the truth, but is also defended by studying error.
Two Ways to Live: Know and Share the Gospel
Bob Dyar and Cody Janicek | 9:15AM, Third Floor Boardroom
...(more) In Peter's first epistle, he calls Christians to "always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." At the heart of this evangelism training course is the conviction that every Christian should know the Gospel message clearly and thoroughly, so as to be able to articulate it to others as opportunities arise. The course will not give you a script to recite, but rather a structured set of ideas which are foundational to the Christian faith and can be adapted naturally in everyday conversation. The framework that the "Two Ways to Live" course sets forth "provides direction and confidence in talking about being Christian."
God and Money: Learning to Handle our Finances the Way God Intended
Nate Willis (and others) | 10:30AM, Third Floor Boardoom
...(more) Did you know there are more than 2,350 verses in the Bible that deal with money and possessions? The Bible has a lot to say about how we handle our money today – even if we think we don’t have much of it – yet most people do not apply God’s principles to their everyday finances and possessions. Learning how to handle money and possessions the way God intended us to will lead us to closer fellowship with Christ, greater understanding of Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives, greater contentment in many areas of life, lowered stress, better decision-making and more. This Sunday School class will focus on topics such as God’s role in our finances, the use of debt, counsel, honesty, giving, work, saving and investing and teaching children about money.
Suffering and the Sovereignty of God: A Study of Job
Jason Piteo and Andy Pyrch | 10:30AM, Second Floor Resource Center

What's The Difference?: A Men's Class on How to Lead, Protect and Provide
Dr. Mike Kruger and Bill Macurda | 9:15AM, Fourth Floor Hallway
...(more) Scripture is clear that manhood and womanhood are the beautiful handiwork of a good and loving God. John Piper, in his book What's the Difference?, declares that "God designed our differences, and they are profound." Yet, in many ways, the world around us, and even the church, has lost sight of these differences. When rightly understood according to his Word, God's vision for both men and women is not oppressive, prideful, or self-promoting, but, are "fulfilling in the deepest sense of that word." Come join us for this important class as we seek to recover the biblical teaching on manhood and womanhood.
Living in Anticipation of the Thief in the Night: A Study in Thessalonians
Matt Tringali and John Levy | 10:30AM, Second Floor Resource Center
...(more) In the advent season we celebrated the first coming of Christ as we also look with great anticipation toward his second coming as the King in all of his glory. Paul wrote to the church of the Thessalonians to encourage and exhort them as they too lived in great anticipation of the final coming of Christ. He reminded them that "the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, 'There is peace and security,' then sudden destruction will come upon them." In this class we will consider Paul's teaching in how to not be lulled into the supposed "peace and security" the world offers, but instead look to the consummate peace and security that only Christ our King can offer.

Josh Creason & Tom Ellis | May/Jun 2010
...(more) Throughout the New Testament the church is known as the bride of Christ, and 1 Corinthians paints the Corinthian church as a very ugly or dysfunctional bride. Despite the ugliness of the Corinthian church's sin, Paul continues to love them, because Christ loves his church and gave himself up for her. This Sunday School class will examine the Servant Leadership model that the word of God provides us --and how we can use this model to lead His church to be holy, to do great things for Him, and to extend His kingdom.
